About me
Dr. David Allan is a professor of Marketing and the current Dirk Warren ’50 Sesquicentennial Chair for Business in the Erivan K. Haub School at Saint Joseph’s University. He has B.A. in Communications (American University), a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing (St. Joes), a Masters of Legal Studies in Entertainment Law (USC), and a Ph.D. in Mass Media and Communications (Temple). He has published three books on music and advertising (This Note’s For You, Super Sonic Logos, and HitPlay); four book chapters including The Oxford Handbook on Music and Advertising; ten case studies including Taylor Swift; over twenty journal articles including the Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Business Research, and Journal of Consumer Research that have been cited over 1,000 times; presented at over fifty conferences; has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Billboard, and the Guardian; and appeared on numerous media outlets including Sky News and the BBC. Prior to his academic career, he spent over twenty years in the radio industry including Power 99 FM in Philadelphia. He teaches numerous courses including Music Marketing.
